Learn, Grow, Eat, Be Well.
Growing Your Food has prolific benefits. Take a moment to consider the following:
- Increased independence and a sense of accomplishment. Gardening teaches children responsibility and provides an opportunity for families to do something together.
- Supplementing your diet with produce from your garden will significant diminish your ecological footprint. Using Heartland's organic and sustainable techniques will decrease it further still.
- Garden-fresh vegetables are among the best sources of vitamins you'll find. No other foods, meat, dairy, fish or sweets, can compare to the balanced nutrition vegetables offer.
- Flavor! Your taste-buds will thank you time and time again when you eat fresh picked produce. You'll be able to taste the major difference in typical produce that spends more than a week and 1500 miles on a truck (on average), like you never have before.
- Transparency. Knowing where your food comes from guarantees it was grow with methods you approve of.
- Ease economic pressures. Gardening requires an investment in time but reduces your food bill.
Indeed, with a meager investment you can achieve incredible results. Read this recent article to see how one gardener, in 6 mo. of growing, produced 796 lbs. of produce with a $75 budget.
